Biographical Information[edit]

Yudai Mori played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years

Mori was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles and Hiroshima Carp in the first round of the 2012 NPB draft, and the Golden Eagles won the lottery for the rights to him. Mori was 3-4 with a 5.71 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2013, and he went 2-3 with a 5.52 ERA for the big club in 2014. He was the first southpaw who was under 20 to get a win in NPB in Rakuten's history. Mori then represented Japan in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup, going 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA; he beat the Netherlands' Floris Timmer but lost the title game to Taiwan's Chun-Lin Kuo. He had a 5.29 ERA in 3 games in 2015, and he missed the entire 2016 season due to injuries. He was 1-1 with a 4.68 ERA in 2017, and he recorded a 2.37 ERA in 9 appearances in 2018. However, Mori didn't have another appearance with the big club because of an elbow injury, and he announced his retirement in 2022. He later became a waiter at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant.
