Biographical Information

Yu Sato was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 2nd round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he had a 3.67 ERA in 14 appearances in 2016. His ERA rose to 5.40 in 13 games in 2017, then he notched 10 holds and 5 saves with a 2.08 ERA in 42 relief outings in 2018. Sato was 8th in saves in the Pacific League. However, he suffered from a right elbow injury, and he only pitched 7 games with a 6.52 ERA in 2019. He had 4 holds with a 9.18 ERA in 14 games in 2020, and he only got 8 more appearances before he announced his retirement in 2022.

Overall, Sato was 5-2 with 17 holds and a 4.98 ERA, struck 102 and pitched 119 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
