Biographical Information[edit]
Yoshiyuki Suenaga played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 12 years.
Suenaga was drafted by the Toei Flyers in the 6th round of the 1967 NPB draft, and he spent his first two seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 39 at-bats combined for the big club. He hit .180/.234/.256 in 95 games in 1970, and he improved to .234/.308/.315 in 1971. Suenaga then recorded a .275/.370/.357 batting line in 1972, and he had a .236/.461/.345 batting line in 1973. He started 66 games at shortstop in 1974, and he batted .265/.339/.389 with a career-high 7 homers that season. However, Suenaga slumped to .175/.213/.185 in 1975, and he was traded to the Chunichi Dragons for Yukiharu Shibuya. He went 3-for-18 in 1976, and the Dragons released him. Suenaga then signed with the Lotte Orions, and he hit .233/.278/.363 in 73 games in 1977. He hit .266/.310/.367 in 1978, but he went 0-for-11 in 1979 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Suenaga hit .230/.295/.318 with 362 hits and 24 homers in 12 seasons in NPB.
