Biographical Information

Yoshiya Morita hit .261 with 108 steals in his college career, and he set the Aichi University League single-season and career steals records. He was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 7th round of the 1970 NPB draft, and he was used as a pinch-runner in his entire career. Morita collected 16 steals in 23 tries, scoring 18 runs in 51 games before he announced his retirement in 1974, but he never had a single at-bat for the big club.
