Biographical Information[edit]

Yoshitaka Hashimoto pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.

Hashimoto had previously played for Honda Motors in the industrial leagues, and he was selected by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 4th round of the 2004 NPB draft. He had a 3.86 ERA in 20 relief outings in 2005, and he went 4-2 with a 3.33 ERA as a starter in 2006. Hashimoto only pitched 5 games in 2007, then he was traded with Takehiko Oshimoto and Keizo Kawashima to the Yakult Swallows for Shugo Fujii, Hajime Miki and Yataro Sakamoto in January 2008. Hashimoto didn't reach the big club in '08, and he had a 1.35 ERA in 13 relief outings in 2009. His ERA rose to 5.68 in 18 games in 2010, and he notched 2 holds with a 4.34 ERA in 17 appearances in 2011. The Swallows then traded him to the Rakuten Golden Eagles for Yusuke Kusuki, and he had a 4.82 ERA in 8 appearances. He didn't reach the big club in 2013, and he announced his retirement from NPB. He played briefly with the Gigantes de Carolina of the Puerto Rico Winter League in 2013-2014, posting a 4.70 ERA in 5 appearances.

Overall, Hashimoto was 5-5 with a 3.62 ERA, struck out 97 and pitched 169 innings in 7 seasons in NPB. He threw a fastball in the high 80s/low 90s, forkball, slider and change-up.
