Biographical Information[edit]

Yoshio Koyama represented Japan in the 1998 Asia Junior Championship and 2002 World University Championship (.286/.375/.429 as the main backstop for the Bronze Medalists, handling 62 chances error-free and throwing out the only guy who tried to steal on him). He was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 8th round of the 2004 NPB draft, and he went 2-for-10 in 2005. He only got 2 more at-bats with the big club before he announced his retirement in 2008. He was the bullpen catcher for Japan in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, and he was the battery coach for the Dragons in 2016. As a Dragons scout, he signed Shohta Habu, Shunta Mori, Keishi Tsuda and Ryunosuke Yamaasa.
