Biographical Information[edit]

Yoshihiro Yamauchi pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Yamauchi was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the 2nd round of the 1987 NPB draft, and he notched 11 saves with a 2.27 ERA in 29 games in 1988. He was 4th in saves in the Pacific League, between Yuji Inoue and Hirofumi Kono. Yamauchi collected 12 saves with a 3.24 ERA in 39 games in 1989, and he ranked 4th in saves again (between Seiichi Sato and Tsutomu Sakai). However, he suffered from injuries so he only pitched 16 games combined in the next 5 seasons. Yamauchi was traded to the Yakult Swallows for Taira Suzuki in 1995, but he allowed 20 runs in 16 innings in that season. He stayed in the minors in 1996, and he announced his retirement in 1997 after he recorded a 5.16 ERA in 10 games.

Overall, Yamauchi was 10-5 with a 4.47 ERA and 23 saves, struck out 110 and pitched 169 innings in 8 seasons in NPB.
