Biographical Information[edit]
Yasuro Iwaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Iwaki signed with the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1964, and he only got 35 at-bats combined in his first five seasons. He was named Kintetsu's starting catcher in 1969, and he played 104 games with a .209/.254/.280 batting line. However, his spot was taken by Yoshinori Tsuji in 1970, and he only hit .175/.258/.200 that season. Iwaki hit .221/.279/.319 in 1971, and he recorded a .206/.247/.317 batting line in 1972. He was 6-for-40 in 1973, and he only got 11 at-bats for the top team in 1974. Iwaki then stayed in the minors as a player-coach until he announced his retirement in 1977, and he scouted and coached for the Buffaloes from 1977 to 2002. He signed Hideo Nomo and Satoru Ota as a scout.
Overall, Iwaki hit .199/.247/.275 with 145 hits and 10 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
