Biographical Information

Yasuji Date was drafted by the Lotte Orions in the first round of the 1972 NPB draft, but he only got 9 at-bats for the big club in his first three seasons. He was traded to the Yakult Swallows for Kiyoharu Matsuoka in 1975, and he went 0-for-1 in 1976. Date stayed in the minors for the entire 1977 season , then he announced his retirement. His son Masashi Date pitched in NPB.
