Biographical Information[edit]

Yasuhiro Tanaka pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years. His brother Ryohei Tanaka also pitched in NPB.

Tanaka was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 4th round of the 2005 NPB draft, and he spent his first four seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He had a 4.97 ERA in 11 appearances in 2011, but he underwent Tommy John surgery so he only pitched 5 games combined in the next two seasons. Tanaka pitched 9 games with a 4.91 ERA for the Melbourne Aces in 2013-2014 ABL, and he had a 6.43 ERA in 8 games in 2014. He improved to a 1.35 ERA in 18 appearances in 2015, but the Lions still released him. He then signed with the Chiba Lotte Marines, and he recorded a 2.76 ERA in 17 relief outings in 2016.

The Komatsu native pitched 13 games with a solid 1.98 ERA in 2017, and he notched 5 holds with a 4.44 ERA in 32 games in 2018. Tanaka's ERA was 2.72 in 44 games in 2019, but he only got 8 appearances in 2020. He collected a career-high 10 holds with a 4.54 ERA in 38 games in 2021, but his ERA rose to 8.36 in 15 appearances in 2022 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Hanada was 10-9 with a 3.81 ERA and 22 holds, struck out 124 and pitched 205 2/3 innings in 11 seasons in NPB.
