Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Xavier Isaac was drafted 29th overall in the first round of the 2022 amateur draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, out of a high school in North Carolina. His being drafted that high was a bit of a surprise, but the Rays liked his bat speed and power and thought he would adapt well to the pro game, which proved prescient. His began his pro career that same year with 5 games with the [FCL Rays]], going 4 for 19.

In his first full season in the minors in 2023, he spent the bulk of the year with the Charleston RiverDogs of the Carolina League before a late-season promotion to the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the South Atlantic League. Altogether, his slash line was .285/.395/.521 in 102 games with 71 runs, 19 homers and 72 RBIs. Honors he received that year included being named a post-season All-Star in the Carolina League, a Baseball America low-class A All-Star, and a Rays organizational All-Star. In 2024, he started the season at Bowling Green, then was promoted to the Montgomery Biscuits of the AA Southern League on August 2nd, shortly after having participated in the 2024 Futures Game. He hit .264/.370/.480 in 102 games, with 18 homers and 78 RBIs. He was again named a post-season All-Star, this time in the Sally League. After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League.

In 2025, he played 41 games with Montgomery, hitting .201 with 9 homers and 22 RBIs in 139 at-bats. He was limited by an elbow injury in spring training, and then played his last game on June 25th. The Rays did not release any information about his condition at the time, but after the season, he explained that he had been complaining with what he thought was dehydration. A number of medical tests led to a brain scan which revealed a condition for which he was operated in early July. He waited to be fully recovered from the procedure to open up about what he had gone through, without giving any details of what the condition was. He was by then preparing to head to spring training to prepare for the 2026 season, stating: "X is Back".
