- School Davidson College
- Born January 21, 1884 in Mount Sterling, KY, USA[1]
- Died December 14, 1981 in Newton, KS, USA[2]
Biographical Information[edit]
GI Guerrant was a minor league third baseman who played for the Wilson Tobacconists from 1908 to 1910.[3] He graduated from Davidson College in 1907[4]
After his playing career, he was the coach for the University of South Carolina baseball team in 1914.[5] By 1915, he was ordained as Reverend William Upton Guerrant[6] A 1920 article detailing his work for the Elizaville Presbyterian Church claims that he was a "star performer in the Southern League for several seasons; he had been sold to the Brooklyn club of the National League when he laid aside football togs and pitcher's glove to prepare for the ministry." However, there is no record supporting this claim.[7]
