William Bedford
William Bedford was a second baseman for the Cuban Giants of the Negro Leagues. On August 26, 1909, the 23-year-old was killed on the baseball diamond when a bolt of lightning struck the ground close to him and the electricity ran through his spikes; he died instantly.
