Biographical Information

Wei-En Lin has played for the Taiwanese national team and in the minor league. His uncle Chen-Yu Hung and cousin Ching-Hsien Ko both played professional baseball.

Lin represented Taiwan in the 2023 U-18 Baseball World Cup, going 2-0 with one unearned run in 13 innings; he beat South Korea's Jun-seo Hwang and the Netherlands' Gijs van den Brink to help his team win the Silver Medal. He tied for third in wins, tied Yugo Maeda for 5th in K (14) and led in ERA. Aoi Higashionna was named the All-Star starting pitcher instead. He signed with the Oakland Athletics in 2024 with a $1.35 million signing bonus. Before making his pro debut, he made it onto Taiwan's roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, and he relieved Yung-Chen Lu in the 4th inning against Spain. Lin allowed a single to Carlos Colmenarez, but he struck out the other batters he faced (Gabriel Lino, Andrés Angulo and Engel Beltré). He then relieved Yun-Wen Chen in the 9th inning against Nicaragua, and he struck out Elian Rayo. Taiwan advanced to the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
