Biographical Information[edit]

Walt Kuhn caught 17 seasons 1902 to 1918, three in the Major Leagues and 15 in the minors. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I where he suffered the loss of an eye, ending his baseball career (BN). He caught three years with the Chicago White Sox from 1912 to 1914. In 1919 and 1920 he was chief of detectives in Dallas TX, but a chronic illness prevented him from working after that. Believed to be despondent over ill health, he took his own life by shooting himself with a 30-30 rifle at age 51 and is buried at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno CA.
