Biographical Information[edit]
Wallace Victor Pontiff was a left-hander who pitched in the minor leagues for the GCL Rangers in 1973 and for the Orangeburg Dodgers and Gastonia Rangers in 1974. Born in New Orleans, LA, he attended Redemptorist High School, played college baseball at Loyola University New Orleans from 1970 to 1972, and then completed his college career at University of Miami.[1][2]
Known as "Lefty," Pontiff later served as pitching coach at Tulane University in 1985 and 1986.[3] He is the father of Wally Pontiff, Jr. and Nick Pontiff.[1][2]
