Biographical Information[edit]

Viktor Večerka has pitched in the Extraliga and for the Czech national team.

He was 2-0 in the 2016 U18 European Championship, pitching four shutout innings. He tied Mic van Veen and Oscar Tucci for the event lead in wins. [1] He allowed four walks, four runs (three earned) and no hits in his Extraliga debut, with the 2018 Draci Brno club. [2] In the 2018 European Junior Championship, he did not allow a run in 3 1/3 IP (1 H, 4 BB, 8 K). [3] He struck out all three batters he faced when Draci Brno won the 2019 CEB Cup. [4] In the Extraliga that year, he was 0-1 with a 10.97 ERA. [5]

The lefty was signed by Kansas City Royals scout Nick Leto. [6] The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by COVID-19. Back in Czechia, he allowed eight walks and five runs (all earned) in 3 1/3 IP. [7] The Royals let him go in 2021, never having gotten into a game in the minors. [8] Despite his struggles in the Extraliga to that point, he made the Czech team for the 2021 European Championship. In his lone appearance, he relieved Tomáš Duffek in the 7th with two on, one out and a 8-1 deficit against the title-bound Dutch national team. He got John Polonius on a fly but walked Jiandido Tromp and Roger Bernadina to force in a run. He balked in Junior Martina then retired Ray-Patrick Didder on a grounder. David Mergans took over in the 8th. [9]

Večerka was 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA in the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup; he lost to Cuba. He showed his usual control issues to that point (7 BB in 4 IP) but allowed only one hit. [10]
