Biographical Information

Boris Večerka has pitched in the Czech Republic. He is the brother of Viktor Večerka.

He debuted for Hrosi Brno in 2020, pitching two shutout innings in the regular season but allowed nine walks and 10 runs (all earned) in 1 1/3 postseason innings. In the 2021 U-18 European Championship, he had four Ks and four walks in two innings, yielding 3 runs (2 earned). In '21, he was 3-1 with a 7.20 ERA for Hrosi Brno in the regular season, again with over a walk per inning. He had a 5.14 ERA in 2022 and was 0-2 with a 6.48 ERA in the postseason.

Despite his lackluster numbers, the Arizona Diamondbacks signed him late in 2022. While both he and his brother signed with MLB teams, neither saw a game in the minor leagues. He was originally announced for the Czech national team for the 2023 World Baseball Classic but the Diamondbacks changed their mind and didn't let him play, his spot being taken by Jake Rabinowitz. Having not appeared in the minors and being injured for 2024, Arizona cut ties with Boris at the end of 2024.

Večerka had not played in the Extraliga since 2022 yet made the Czech roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
