Biographical Information[edit]
Udo Kirschner was a pitcher in Germany.
He was born in Romania in an area with a significant German population and his family presumably emigrated to its original homeland at one point. He was 2-0 with a 3.09 ERA in the 1992 B-Level European Championship, leading Germany in wins, innings (11 2/3) and strikeouts (18) as they won a spot in the 1993 European Championship. In the 1993 Euros, he fell to 0-2, 11.57. He lost to France's Samuel Meurant and Spain's Javier Arrondo. He tied Klaus Knüttel for the team lead in losses. Bundesliga stats are unavailable online (as of 2/21/2025) prior to 1994. He was 3-5 with a save and a 7.67 ERA for the 1994 Cologne Cardinals, hitting .238/.467/.381. He was 10th in IP (54), 3rd in lowest walk rate (behind Gavin Marshall and Michael Wäller) and tied for 6th in losses.
With the 1995 Cardinals, he was 0 for 13 with 6 walks, a hit-by-pitch, four runs and a RBI and allowed a run in one inning. He was still playing in regional competition as of 2008.
