Biographical Information[edit]

Tyler Cyr played his high school ball at John F. Kennedy High School (Fremont) in Fremont, CA. After graduating in 2011, he would then move to Skyline College for his freshman year of college baseball in 2012. Following his year at Skyline, he would transfer to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (FL) where he made 8 appearences and 6 starts in his first year throwing 29.2 innings. Cyr would have a breakout year in 2015 for Embry-Riddle throwing 86 innings with a 3.14 ERA with 98 strikeouts while helping the Eagles to the 2015 NAIA College World Series.

After his 2015 season, Cyr was selected in the 10th round of the 2015 Amateur Draft by the San Francisco Giants. Cyr reported to the Arizona League Giants before being promoted to single-A Augusta GreenJackets in the same year. Cyr would spend 2016 between Augusta and high-A San Jose Giants where he finished with a 2.35 ERA in 19 games and 23 innings of work for San Jose.

Cyer spent all of 2017 with AA Richmond Flying Squirrels with a 2.19 ERA and 18 saves primarily as a closer. He would also appear in 8 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League in 2017. Cyr was assigned to start 2018 with Richmond again before being injured and appearing in only 8 games. 2019 saw Cyr spend a majority of the year in Double-A Richmond posting a 2.05 ERA and 5 saves in 48.1 innings pitched. He would also pitch one game for AAA Sacramento River Cats throwing 2 innings. Cyr would spend 2021 with AAA Sacramento, where his ERA spiked to 4.91 on the year and would finish the year pitching in the Dominican Winter League for the Gigantes del Cibao.

In December 2021, Cyr signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Cyr would start the year in AAA Lehigh Valley and would make his major league debut on August 21, 2022 allowing a home run to Brandon Nimmo before being designated for assignment the following day. On August 24, Cyr was claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics and assigned to AAA Las Vegas. He would end up making 11 appearances for Oaklan,d posting a 2.08 ERA in 13 IP. In January 2023, he was designated for assignment by Las Vegas and released 4 days later.

Cyer signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers and assigned to AAA Oklahoma City. Cyr would then throw two scoreless appearances for the Dodgers before a shoulder injury placed him on the 60-day IR. Cyr elected free agency in November 2023. In January 2025, Cyr would announce his retirement from baseball as he was unable to fully recover from his shoulder injury.
