Biographical Information[edit]
Tsunemi Koizumi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Koizumi signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1962, but he only got 25 at-bats combined for the top team in his first three seasons. He hit .221/.302/.354 in 69 games in 1965, but he was 1-for-10 in 1966. Koizumi finally got some chances in 1967, and he played 108 games with 9 homers and a .249/.300/.387 batting line as Nankai's starting left fielder. He crushed 6 homers with a .253/.314/.438 batting line in 1968, and his batting line was .277/.312/.384 in 1969. However, Koizumi struggled in 1970 as his batting line fell to .214/.267/.286, and the Chunichi Dragons selected him in the active draft. He was 7-for-42 in 1971, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Koizumi hit .246/.300/.378 with 230 hits and 25 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
