Biographical Information[edit]

Tsuji was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 5th round of the 2001 NPB draft, and he hit .207/.241/.293 in 41 games in 2002, seeing action because their starting catcher Masaumi Shimizu was injured. Tsuji mainly stayed in the minors in 2005, and he played 52 games with a .239/.261/.318 batting line as Tomoya Satozaki's backup in 2006. The Marines then traded him to the Orix Buffaloes for Daisuke Hayakawa, and he went 6-for-33 in 2007. Tsuji never got more than 40 at-bats in a season again for the big club before he announced his retirement in 2013. He later coached Kokushikan University from 2015 to 2022.
Overall, Tsuji hit .223/.260/.294 with 72 hits and a homer in 12 seasons in NPB.
