Biographical Information[edit]

Tomohiro Jo played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Jo was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 6th round of the 1987 NPB draft, and he spent his first three seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues; he only got 11 at-bats for the top team. He led the Eastern League in hits and steals in 1990, and he led the league in steals again in 1991. Jo hit .223/.301/.266 with 10 steals for the top team in 1992, and he recorded a .258/.307/.297 batting line with 11 steals in 1993 as Yakult's starting third baseman after Tetsuya Iida was injured. Jo was 10-for-36 in 1994, and he batted .243/336/.327 in 1995. He slumped to .184/.231/.204 in 1996, and he went 7-for-22 in 1997. He only got 2 at-bats before the Swallows released him in 1998, and the Hanshin Tigers signed him. However, Jo only played 5 games in 1999, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Jo hit .243/.308/.290 with 170 hits and 2 homers in 9 seasons in NPB.
