Biographical Information[edit]
Japanese-Hawaiian outfielder Tomoharu Kai signed with the Kintetsu Pearls in 1952, and he was the first foreign player in Kintetsu's history. He hit .327/.358/.446 with 7 homers in his first season, and he was 3rd in batting in the Pacific League (between Shigeya Iijima and Tokuji Iida). Kai slumped to .253/.290/.292 in 1953, and his professional career ended.
