Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Lukish played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues, reaching AAA.
Lukish represented the USA in the 1978 Amateur World Series. [1] The Toronto Blue Jays picked him in the 23rd round of the 1980 Amateur Draft, and he was 2-4 with a 1.74 ERA and 8 saves for the Utica Blue Jays in his first season. Lukish also recorded a 1.59 ERA in 8 games for the Kinston Eagles that season, and he notched 11 saves with a 10-2 record and an elite 1.87 ERA in 32 relief outings in Kinston in 1981. He pitched 18 games with 6 saves and a 1.73 ERA for the Knoxville Blue Jays in '81, then he collected a career-high 20 saves with a 2.71 ERA in 54 appearances in 1982 in Knoxville. Lukish reached AAA in 1983, and he was 6-2 with a 4.41 ERA for the Syracuse Chiefs. His ERA rose to 6.32 in 15 relief outings in 1984 for the Chief, and he announced his retirement.
