Biographical Information

Tom Lukish played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues, reaching AAA.

Lukish represented the USA in the 1978 Amateur World Series. The Toronto Blue Jays picked him in the 23rd round of the 1980 Amateur Draft, and he was 2-4 with a 1.74 ERA and 8 saves for the Utica Blue Jays in his first season. Lukish also recorded a 1.59 ERA in 8 games for the Kinston Eagles that season, and he notched 11 saves with a 10-2 record and an elite 1.87 ERA in 32 relief outings in Kinston in 1981. He pitched 18 games with 6 saves and a 1.73 ERA for the Knoxville Blue Jays in '81, then he collected a career-high 20 saves with a 2.71 ERA in 54 appearances in 1982 in Knoxville. Lukish reached AAA in 1983, and he was 6-2 with a 4.41 ERA for the Syracuse Chiefs. His ERA rose to 6.32 in 15 relief outings in 1984 for the Chief, and he announced his retirement.
