Biographical Information[edit]
C/1B Toby Rumfield was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the second round of the 1991 amateur draft and played more than a decade in the minors, spending four seasons at the AAA level. He was 2-for-9 with a double, walk, run and a RBI for Team USA in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, fielding .963 at 1B, where he backed up Vic Davilla.
He briefly managed the San Angelo Colts of the Central Baseball League in 2004, then in 2007 and 2008, he managed the River City Rascals of the Frontier League. He moved to the Florence Freedom in 2009. He later became the coach of Temple (TX) High School and Denton (TX) High School. At Temple High School, he coached his son TJ Rumfield, who reached the majors in 2026. His brother, Brock Rumfield, also played in the minor leagues.
