Biographical Information[edit]
Tiago Nishiyama debuted for the Brazilian national team in the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers; only Lucas Ramirez was younger on their team. He debuted as a 9th-inning pinch-runner for Gabriel Gomes with a 8-7 lead over Germany and scored an insurance run when Leonardo Reginatto (who had debuted for Brazil when Nishiyama was two years old) drove him in. His other game was a pinch-runner for Lucas Rojo; when he scored on a hit by Vítor Ito, that made it 12-2 to end the game against China due to the mercy rule. Brazil won a spot in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, returning after a 13-year break. [1]
