Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Thayron Liranzo was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers as an international amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic on January 15, 2021. He began his professional career that same year with the DSL Dodgers Shoemaker, batting .250 in 21 games. In 2022, he moved to the U.S., spending the year with the ACL Dodgers and hitting .237/.339/.487 in 41 games, showing good power with 11 doubles and 8 homers. He was named a league post-season all-star.

In 2023, Thayron got his first taste of full-season ball with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes of the California League . He hit .273/.400/.562 in 94 games, with 81 runs, 24 doubles, 24 homers and 70 RBIs. He again made his league's post-season All-Star team, but was also named to Baseball America's Low-A All-Star team. In 2024, he started the year with the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League, where he hit .220 in 74 games and was selected to play in the 2024 Futures Game. On July 30th, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers along with SS Trey Sweeney in return for P Jack Flaherty. Flaherty helped the Dodgers to a World Series title, Sweeney became a starter for the Tigers, helping them surge into the postseason, while Thayron simply moved across the state, to the West Michigan Whitecaps, still in the Midwest League, where he finished the season. He also did well after the trade, as he batted .315 in 26 games for his new team, with 5 homers and 20 RBIs. He then continued to do well in the Arizona Fall League, hitting .375 in 15 games for the Scottsdale Scorpions.

In 2025, he was a non-roster invitee to spring training with the Tigers.

He shares date of birth with countryman Junior Caminero, who reached the majors in 2023, shortly after turning 20.
