Biographical Information[edit]

Tetsuya Ohara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Ohara signed with the Taiheiyo Baseball Union in 1975, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first four seasons. He played 87 games with a .161/.189/.169 batting line in 1979, and he shared the starting shortstop spot with Hisataka Yukizawa in 1980. Ohara recorded a .211/.272/.300 batting line in 98 games, and he lost his spot after super rookie Hiromichi Ishige joined the team. He only got 5 at-bats in 1981, and he was traded with Kenji Furusawa to the Hiroshima Carp for Naoki Takahashi. Ohara mainly stayed in the minors in 1982, and he went 0-for-10 in 27 games in 1983. The Carp then traded him with Hideji Kato to the Hankyu Braves for Yasuo Fukui and Hiroshi Moriwaki, and he hit .232/.281/.427 in 40 games in 1984. Ohara went 3-for-17 in 1985, and he only got 7 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 1987.

Overall, Ohara hit .189/.237/.267 with 79 hits in 9 seasons in NPB.
