Biographical Information[edit]

Tetsuro Nishida has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Nishida was taken by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the second round of the 2009 draft. He hit only .190 in the minors in 2010. In 2011, he got into one game for the big club, fanning against Atsushi Okamoto in his lone at-bat. In 2012, the Osaka native got his first NPB hit, off Tatsuya Sato. He was 3 for 22 with a walk, HBP, two runs and a RBI that season with Rakuten, backing up at 2B, SS and 3B. He was Rakuten's #3 shortstop (behind Kazuo Matsui and Tatsuro Iwasaki) in 2013, hitting .167/.200/.188 in 52 plate appearances and fielding .960 at SS. He was unused in the 2013 Japan Series as Rakuten won its first title. In game one of the 2013 Asia Series, though, he started at short and drove in two runs in a win over the EDA Rhinos.
