Biographical Information[edit]
Tetsuji Okamoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.
Okamoto was drafted by the Taiyo Whales in the 6th round of the 1984 NPB draft, and he was 4-for-19 in 1986. He went 1-for-12 in 1987, and he had a 2-for-20 record in 1988. Okamoto only played 6 games in 1989, and he was traded to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Tadami Futamura. Okamoto only got 37 more at-bats for the top team, and he announced his retirement in 1996. He later became the minor league battery coach for the Fighters from 1997 to 2002, and he managed their minors team from 2003 to 2006. He then became the minor league battery coach for the Yokohama BayStars in 2009, and he coached their top team in 2011. The Orix Buffaloes named him their minor league manager from 2014 to 2015, and he coached Wakayama Nanryo High School from 2016 to 2018. The Tokushima Indigo Socks named him their new manager in 2021.
