June 30: Today's featured birthday is that of Doug Dascenzo, who turns 62.
- 1952 - With Quincy Trouppe catching and Sam Jones pitching, the Indians have the first black battery in American League or National League history.
- 1964 - Yomiuri Giants slugger Sadaharu Oh (pictured) goes deep four times in a game, tying the Nippon Pro Baseball record for home runs in a game. Oh is the second player to accomplish the feat.
- 1971 - Susumu Sakudo, Tsuyoshi Oshita, Yutaka Ohashi, Isao Harimoto and Katsuo Osugi combine for five consecutive home runs in a Toei Flyers victory. The home run spree sets a NPB record.
- 1999 - In the first game for the Cuban national team against a Major League team in the USA, the Cubans beat the Orioles, 12-6, at Camden Yards.
- 2009 - Carl Crawford steals six bases in a game, becoming just the fourth player to do so in the majors in the post-1900 era.
