The 2013 Pittsburgh Pirates came into the year trying to avoid a 21st consecutive losing season and more than exceeded expectations, going 94-68 and making it to the playoffs. Their Wild Card game win over the Reds was one of the most prominent events in the past 30 years of Pirates annals. Pittsburgh claimed numerous postseason honors, with Clint Hurdle winning Manager of the Year, Andrew McCutchen MVP, McCutchen and Pedro Alvarez Silver Sluggers and Francisco Liriano Comeback Player of the Year.
