Biographical Information[edit]
Ted Bond was an infielder in the Negro Leagues, appearing in parts of 3 seasons with 3 different teams. He started off in 1935 as a 31-year-old rookie, playing primarily as a shortstop, and played for both the Pittsburgh Crawfords and Newark Dodgers that year. He finished the season with a batting average of .273. He did not play in the Negro Leagues in 1937 but came back in 1937 with the Chicago American Giants, this time spending most of his time at third base. He batted .244 in 45 games. After not playing for a few more years, Bond returned to the NAL with the American Giants one last time, now 36 years old in 1940, appearing in 20 games with a .277 batting average.
He died at age 93 in 1997.
