Biographical Information

Tatsuya Yamaashi has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Yamaashi represented Japan in the 2014 Haarlemse Honkbalweek and 2015 Universiade. The Orix Buffaloes selected him in the 8th round of the 2017 NPB draft, and Yamaashi hit .167/.286/.250 in 25 games in 2018. He struggled again in 2019 as his batting line was .164/.203/.246, and he played 63 games with a .219/.242/.302 batting line in 2020. Yamaashi went 9-for-23 in 2021, and he appeared in the 2021 Nippon Series Game 6. As the backup second baseman, he was plunked by Scott McGough in the 12th inning but couldn't score. The Yakult Swallows beat the Buffaloes in 6 games. Yamaashi was mainly used as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement in the next three seasons, and he only got 84 at-bats in 115 games combined. The Hiroshima Carp selected him in the 2024 NPB Active draft.
