Tatsuru Yanagimachi has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Yanagimachi represented Japan in the 2018 World University Baseball Championship, hitting .200/.467/.300 with 6 RBI in 6 games for the champs. He tied Kuan-Yu Shih and Daiki Kawai for 3rd in RBI. [1] He was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the 5th round of the 2019 NPB draft; the scout was Shogo Yamamoto. [2] He spent his first two seasons primarily in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he only got 52 at-bats combined for the big club. He played 107 games with a .277/.357/.346 batting line in 2022, and he got 3 votes in the PL Rookie of the Year voting. [3] Yanagimachi recorded a .257/.375/.322 batting line in 2023, and he crushed 4 homers with a .269/.313/.421 batting line in 2024. He was 0 for 4 in the 2024 Japan Series, when they fell to the Yokohama BayStars. [4]
