Biographical Information[edit]

Takuya Shimada was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 2nd round of the 2011 NPB draft, and he was 8-for-44 in his first season. He went 5-for-35 in 2013, and he had a 3-for-24 record in 2014. Shimada finally got some chances in 2015, and he played a career-high 80 games with a .226/.288/.361 batting line. He was one of 6 players who appeared in 37-46 games at third base for the team and also saw action as a backup at short. He then went 7-for-42 in 2016, and he only got 7 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 2018. Shimada later became a scout, signing Kento Kawase, Hiroya Miyagi and Yamato Hirano.
