Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Takeshi Kiritoshi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Kiritoshi was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the 9th round of the 1968 NPB draft, and he never got more than 20 at-bats a season in his first seven years. He was traded to the Hanshin Tigers for cash in 1975, and he went 3-for-21 in 1976. Kiritoshi played 74 games (115 PA) with a .279/.304/.396 batting line in 1977, and he had a .221/.291/.260 batting line in 57 games in 1978. He announced his retirement after that season, and he coached Hanshin's minors team from 1979 to 1993. He also scouted for them, signing Kentaro Sekimoto, Osamu Hamanaka and Kyuji Fujikawa.

Overall, Kiritoshi hit .239/.283/.340 with 59 hits and 6 homers in 265 plate appearances spread over 10 seasons in NPB.
