Biographical Information[edit]

Takeshi Ito pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Ito was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 6th round of the 1998 NPB draft, and he went 3-1 with a 2.38 ERA in his first season. He recorded a 6.68 ERA in 13 appearances with a 1-4 record in 2000, and he only pitched 13 games combined in the next three seasons. When Masashi Date was injured in 2004, Ito was named the new closer of the Fighters. He notched 5 saves with a 3.18 ERA in 9 games, then he hurt his elbow and missed the rest of the season. Ito's ERA was 3.00 in 5 games in 2005, but he struggled in 2006 as his ERA rose to 6.00 in 11 relief outings. He only had 5 more appearances for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 2009. Ito then coached in the minors team of the Fighters from 2013 to 2024. He then scouted for them, signing Ruan Ohtsuka.

Overall, Ito was 4-7 with 7 saves and a 4.72 ERA, pitched 137 2/3 innings and struck out 69 in 10 seasons in NPB.
