Biographical Information[edit]

Takehiro Donoue is the son of Terashi Donoue and brother of Naomichi Donoue.

Donoue hit 46 home runs in high school. He was picked in the sixth round of the 2003 NPB draft by the Chunichi Dragons. He was 0 for 1 in his Central League debut in 2005. He hit .286/.329/.416 in 37 games as a backup outfielder for the Dragons in 2007. He was 0 for 2 with a strikeout in the 2007 Japan Series. When he appeared in his first Japan Series game, it was the first time a father and son had both played in a Series. Donoue was 0 for 2 with a walk and a run in 2008 and 2 for 13 in 2009. When Naomichi hit his first Nippon Pro Baseball homer, it was the first time two brothers and a father had all homered in NPB.

The Aichi native finally got some chances in 2010, and he played 58 games with a .247/.275/.361 batting line, mainly as pinch-hitter. Donoue improved to .287/.342/.426 in 2011, and he played a career-high 85 games with a .282/.315/.410 batting line in 2012. However, he slumped to .195/.365/.366 in 2013, and he only got 5 at-bats in 2014 for the top team. The Dragons then released him, and Donoue signed with the Yomiuri Giants. He recorded a .276/.301/.480 batting line in 2015, but his batting line fell to .167/.245/.333 in 2016. Donoue didn't reach the big club in 2017, and he announced his retirement. He scouted for the Giants in 2018, and he was their minor league fielding coach in 2019.

Overall, Donoue hit .259/.307/.399 with 167 hits in 11 seasons in NPB.
