Biographical Information

Takayasu Kato was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the first round of the 1993 NPB draft, and he was 2-4 with a 3.89 ERA in 1994. However, he suffered from left knee injuries, and the Marines released him after the 1995 season. He then signed a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox, and he announced his retirement after he failed to made it onto their opening day roster before the 1997 season.
