Biographical Information[edit]

Takao Kanto was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 6th round of the 1975 NPB draft, and he hit .289/.325/.395 in 26 games in 1976. He recorded a .222/.300/.289 batting line in 1977, and he played a career-high 90 games with a .238/.297/.266 batting line in 1978; the utility infielder mainly backed up Morimichi Takagi at 2B. Kanto only played 5 games in 1979 due to injuries, and he was 7-for-50 in 1980. He had a 1-for-18 record in 1981, and he announced his retirement. Kanto later coached Chunichi's minors team from 1985 to 1988, and he scouted for them, signing Sadaharu Hiranuma and Takeshi Nakamura.

Overall, Kanto hit .212/.266/.266 with 63 hits in 6 seasons in NPB.
