Biographical Information[edit]

Taiki Mitsumata was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 2nd round of the 2010 NPB draft, and he was 5-for-21 in 2012. He went 1-for-10 in 2013, and the Buffaloes traded him to the Chunichi Dragons for Kyohei Iwasaki. Mitsumata was 5-for-36 for the Dragons in 2014, but he only got 53 at-bats combined in the next six seasons. He finally got some chances in 2021, and he hit .222/.272/.308 in 58 games. Mitsumata then had a .211/.305/.276 batting line in 2022, and the Dragons released him. He signed with the Yakult Swallows, but he was 2-for-14 in 2023 and he announced his retirement in 2024.

Overall, Mitsumata hit .191/.261/.266 with 71 hits in 11 seasons in NPB.
