Biographical Information[edit]
“Baseball fans and players were very sorry to hear of the death of Sy Hayman, the big pitcher for the Philadelphia Giants. He was run over while on his way to play a game. Hayman was one of those big, jolly fellows and always kept the bleachers in an uproar when pitching a game of ball.” - The Indianapolis Freeman, 1910
Sy Hayman pitched for the Philadelphia Giants from 1908 to 1910. He threw a no-hitter on October 2nd, 1909 in a game that lasted 12 innings. [1] His career was tragically cut short when he was struck by an automobile and killed while on his way to the ballpark.
