Biographical Information[edit]

Stephen King is an American author who is best known for his horror novels such as The Stand, IT, Pet Sematary, The Shining, The Dark Tower, and others.

In 2004, King co-wrote a book with Stewart O'Nan called Faithful which is a documentary of the 2004 Boston Red Sox season and features a picture of Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek pushing Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees, a shot from what is now known as one of the most iconic brawls in modern baseball history on the cover. His 1999 novel, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, is a horror story, although with a baseball twist, as the main protagonist is an admirer of Tom Gordon, who was Boston's closer at the time the book was published.

King owns Red Sox season tickets and has been invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park on occasion. He was inducted into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
