Biographical Information[edit]
Stanley Shubilla was a catcher in the minor leagues from 1937 to 1945, primarily in his childhood hometown of Wilkes-Barre, PA and his later hometown of Trenton, NJ. He played in the Philadelphia Phillies, Brooklyn Dodgers, and Cleveland Indians' organizations and made it as high as Class-A. He also lived in Berwick, PA at one point.
His Sporting News player card (pictured) lists him as being born in 1916, which would have made him 58 years old at the time of his death, however his obituary says he was 62 when he died[1] so it's possible that he gave a younger age in an attempt to enhance his appeal to scouts and clubs.
He is a distant relative of Pennsylvania politician Thomas Shubilla.
