Biographical Information[edit]
Spencer Allen was a college coach and later a major league coach.
Allen was a scout for the Detroit Tigers and assistant coach at Edmonds Community College (2002), University of Iowa (2004), Purdue University (2008-2009), Washington State University (2010-2012), Creighton University (2013-2014) and the University of Illinois (2015). He was head coach at Northwestern University from 2016-2021, going 104-156 and the team coming one win from its first NCAA Tournament in 60 years in 2017. He stepped down to spend more time with his family; his wife was a former softball star, going to the 2001 Women's College World Series.
He joined the Milwaukee Brewers organization in 2022, first as a baserunning and outfield instructor, then was Director of player development in 2024 and 2025. He was appointed first base coach for the team in 2026.
