Biographical Information[edit]

Gabriel Gomes has played in the minors and for the Brazilian national team.

In the 2018 U-15 Baseball World Cup, he was 2-for-7 with four walks, a run and three RBI. [1] He was signed by Cincinnati Reds scout Jean Tomé, who came from the same hometown. [2] He was 2-for-4 with 3 walks for the 2022 DSL Reds in a solid pro debut and remained sharp in limited time the next year (.375/.592/.431).

Still not a full-timer with the 2024 DSL Reds, he just kept on hitting at .281/.429/.402. He then was Brazil's leadoff man and DH for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers (Gabriel Do Carmo did the catching). His first plate appearance was against MLB veteran Julio Teheran of Colombian national team and he hit into an error by Gio Urshela. His first hit was a double off fellow Brazilian Christian Pedrol (who was pitching for Germany). He was 2-for-12 for the qualifiers but with 6 walks and 4 runs. He led the Arizona qualifier in walks (Tzu-Wei Lin had more in the Taiwan qualifier) and trailed only Dante Bichette Jr. in runs. Brazil won a spot in the 2026 World Baseball Classic, their first trip in 13 years. [3]
