Biographical Information[edit]

Shuzo Hirota played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 9 years.

Hirota signed with the Nagoya Kinko team when they were founded in 1936, and he went 4-for-37 in the spring season. He hit .189/.241/.230 in 23 games in the fall season, and he requested that the Kinko released him. Hirota then joined the Osaka Tigers, and he 6-for-36 in the 1937 spring season. He went 2-for-21 in the fall season, and he had a 2-for-11 record in the 1938 spring season. Hirota recorded a .147/.310/.147 batting line in 15 games in 1939, then he went to the Lion club. He hit .168/.290/.235 in 1940, then he recorded a .235/.376/.294 batting line in 1941. He was named their starting first baseman in 1942, but he batted .123/.219/.161 in 105 games while leading the Japanese Professional Baseball League with 69 strikeouts. Hirota's batting line was .160/.252/.160 in 1943, and he announced his retirement after he went 9-for-37 in 1944.

Overall, Hirota hit .159/.274/.207 with 169 hits and 2 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
