Biographical Information[edit]

Shunta Wakamatsu pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.

Wakmatsu was picked by the Chunichi Dragons in the 7th round of the 2012 NPB draft; the scout was Takafumi Watanabe. He spent his first season in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he went 0-1 with a 4.96 ERA in 2014. Wakamatsu was 10-4 with a 2.12 ERA in 2015, and he tied Tomoyuki Sugano for 10th in wins in the Central League. Had he qualified, he would ranked 5th in ERA. Wakamatsu won 20 votes in the CL Rookie of the Year voting, and he was 2nd behind Yasuaki Yamasaki's 241 votes. He went 7-8 with a 4.06 ERA in 2016, then he was 1-4 with a 5.55 ERA in 2017. The Dragons released him after he spent the 2018 season in the minors, and he pitched in the Baseball Challenge League before he announced his retirement in 2024..

Overall, Takeyasu was 18-17 with a 3.40 ERA, struck out 219 and pitched 307 1/3 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
